Woman Sues LDS Church For Reporting Husband's Child Sex Abuse

(Portland, OR)  --  A Marion County woman is suing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for nearly ten-million dollars after her husband was convicted and imprisoned on child sex charges.  Kristine Johnson says her husband, Timothy Johnson, told leaders of their local congregation that he had sexually abused a girl.  She claims those leaders failed to tell Johnson that his confession to religious authorities would be reported to police, thus breaching clergy confidentiality.  Under Oregon law, religious leaders are required to report any incidents of child abuse they discover.
