Two Men Convicted Of Felony Riot For May Day Brawl

(Portland, OR)  --  Two men are facing three years of probation in connection to a large May Day brawl involving about 60 people outside Cider Riot in northeast Portland last year.  The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office says Christopher Ponte and Matthew Cooper were both convicted of one count each of felony riot yesterday after they changed their pleas to guilty.  Both men were also sentenced to 120 hours of community service and have been barred from attending future unpermitted protests.  Ponte was additionally sentenced to ten days in jail.  Four other men are also facing felony riot charges, including Patriot Prayer leader Joey Gibson, who is pleading not guilty.  One of the suspects, Ian Kramer, is also accused of beating a woman unconscious with a baton in the May 1st incident.
