Portland Comedian Filing Federal Complaint Against CBP

(Portland, OR)  --  A Portland comedian says he plans to file a federal claim against U.S. Customs and Border Patrol after being detained last year in Spokane, Washington.  Mohanad Elshieky says he was stopped by agents at the Greyhound Bus Station in the Spokane Intermodal Center and was detained, even after producing valid documentation that he had been granted asylum in the U.S. back in 2018.  During a 20-minute interrogation, the comedian says agents told him his papers were fake and that he was in the country illegally.  In his complaint, Elshieky accused CBP of racially profiling and false arrest.
