(Portland, OR)  --  Strong winds hit Portland and the rest of the Northwest on Sunday.  Gusts reached 45 miles per hour in the Portland area and the Willamette Valley, while gusts at the coast reached 55 miles per hour.  Portland General Electric crews responded to outages affecting several thousand customers.
