Coast Guard Rescues Couple Stranded Off OR Coast

(Seaside, OR)  --  A couple and their dog are back on dry land after becoming stranded at sea due to bad weather.  The U.S. Coast Guard says the 56-year-old woman and 55-year-old man were on a 44-foot recreational boat with their dog off the coast of Seaside Friday when they were beset by weather preventing them from crossing the bar.  A Coast Guard crew determined it wasn't safe to tow the boat across the bar, so they instructed the couple to stay on the boat with their life jackets on until the weather improved.  However, the weather didn't improve, and the Coast Guard decided to send out an aircrew to hoist the couple and their dog from the boat early Saturday morning.  The couple was back on dry land by 5:45 Saturday morning.
