(Silverton, OR) -- A Silverton police officer is escaping charges in the deadly shooting of a domestic violence suspect on Valentine's Day. A Marion County grand jury ruled unanimously on Tuesday that Officer Timothy Hein was justified in his use of force when he fired a single shot at William Bluestone. Hein and other officers were responding to reports that Bluestone was assaulting his wife and holding their three-month-old baby hostage when the shooting happened. Police say Bluestone was hiding underneath a bed at the home and had told police he was armed when he suddenly shot himself in the chest. The officers returned fire when they heard his gun go off.
