Newport Police Ask People Not To Call 9-1-1 For Running Out Of Toilet Paper

(Newport, OR)  --  Police in Newport are asking residents to stop calling 9-1-1 because they've run out of toilet paper.  The Newport Oregon Police Department published a post on Facebook Saturday night saying their officers cannot and will not deliver toilet paper, adding, quote, "You will survive without our assistance."  The post goes on to list several historical alternatives to toilet paper, including newspaper, corn cobs and even anchor lines soaked in salt water.  Toilet paper has been flying off grocery store shelves as people stock up on supplies over fears about the novel coronavirus.
