(Portland, OR)  --  Oregon is seeing a record number of claims for unemployment insurance amid the coronavirus pandemic.  The Oregon Employment Department says it received more than 76-thousand-500 initial claims for unemployment benefits during the week of March 15th.  That's a sharp rise over the previous week, during which just four-thousand-900 people filed new claims.
