Stabbing Suspect Sentenced To 20 Years In State Hospital

(Portland, OR)  --  A man is facing 20 years in the Oregon State Hospital after being convicted of stabbing a person 17 times.  Court records say the victim saw Todd Schneider setting up a camp on ODOT property in the Portland area and asked him to move in 2018.  Schneider pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the face, head, arms and torso.  The victim went to a nearby home for help.  The District Attorney's office says the victim recovered from the physical injuries, but the emotional trauma will scar the person for life.  The judge determined that Schneider was guilty except for insanity and will be in the care of the Oregon Psychiatric Board for 20 years.
