OR Supreme Court Halts Judge's Injunction Against COVID-19 Rules

(Salem, OR)  --  The Oregon Supreme Court is pumping the brakes on a rural judge's order to end Governor Kate Brown's pandemic-related restrictions.  The state's highest court has placed a hold on Baker County Circuit Judge Matthew Shirtcliff's ruling earlier yesterday.  Shirtcliff issued a preliminary injunction against the governor's executive orders closing businesses and churches.  The case was brought to the judge by the groups Common Sense for Oregon and Pacific Justice Institute.  Governor Brown issued a statement last night saying her emergency orders will remain in effect statewide while the court hears arguments in the case.
