PPB Chief Jami Resch Resigns, Asks Lieutenant Chuck Lovell To Replace Her

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Police Chief Jami Resch is stepping down.  Resch announced yesterday she is resigning after six months on the job and asking Lieutenant Chuck Lovell, who is a black, to take her place.  In a Twitter post, Resch said the decision came from her heart after listening to community members demand change following the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.  The unexpected change in leadership comes as the PPB has faced criticism over its handling of George Floyd demonstrations.  Resch will stay with the PPB in a yet-to-be-determined role.
