Activist Groups Call For More Cuts To PPB, Investment In Community Initiatives

(Portland, OR)  --  A pair of activist groups are calling on city leaders to put more money toward community-driven initiatives.  The groups Unite Oregon and the Portland African American Leadership Forum say the City Council should take 50-million dollars from the Portland Police Bureau's budget rather than the seven-million proposed by Mayor Ted Wheeler earlier this week.  Those groups are also calling for an end to sweeps of homeless camps.
