(Portland, OR) -- Hundreds of people are paying tribute to a Portland resident who died after being hit by a man who drove his car into a crowd of protesters marching on I-5 in Seattle. Several hundred people gathered in downtown Portland late last night for two separate vigils honoring 24-year-old Summer Taylor. Demonstrators gathered at the federal courthouse and in nearby Chapman Square. Taylor was killed Saturday after 27-year-old Dawit Kelete allegedly drove a white Jaguar through Washington State Patrol barricades on a closed portion of I-5 and swerved into the protesters at high speed, striking multiple people. Another Portland resident, 32-year-old Diaz Love, remains hospitalized with injuries from the crash. Protesters were marching to call for an end to police brutality and systemic racism in law enforcement.
