City Commissioner Hardesty Responds To PPU President's Statement

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty says City Council will not be intimidated by the Portland Police Union.  Hardesty made that comment yesterday after union president Daryl Turner said he has no confidence in local officials and leaders to deal with alleged looting and violence from groups of people using what he called "the cover of peaceful protests."  Protesters have been demonstrating nearly every night in Portland for over a month, calling for an end to police brutality and systemic racism in law enforcement as well as a reduction in police funding.  Turner says the city should increase its funding for the Portland Police Bureau.
