(Portland, OR)  --  Mayor Ted Wheeler is renewing his call for the Trump administration to remove federal officers from Portland's streets.  Wheeler joined forces with Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan and several other mayors yesterday to send an open letter to the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security.  The letter calls for the immediate removal of Trump's "Rapid Deployment Unit" squads from major U.S. cities.  The mayors are also calling on Congress to investigate what they call the president's "unconstitutional terror tactics."  Trump sent federal forces into Portland about a week ago in response to ongoing protests against police brutality and systemic racism in the city.
