(Portland, OR) -- Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge is blasting the Trump administration's deployment of federal officers in Portland. Ridge says DHS agents aren't supposed to be used as "the president's personal militia," and he wouldn't have agreed to an "uninvited, unilateral intervention" into a U.S. city. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler says the presence of federal personnel has only made the situation worse. Trump sent federal officers into Portland to manage ongoing civil unrest sparked by George Floyd's death in May.
