(Portland, OR) -- The city of Portland is slapping a hefty fine on the federal government for a fence erected around the federal courthouse. The Portland Bureau of Transportation says the fence surrounding the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse is blocking a bike lane. The city is therefore fining the federal government 500 dollars for every 15 minutes the fence continues to block the public thoroughfare. City Commissioner Chloe Eudaly says that as of Monday, the bill is up to 192-thousand dollars "and counting."
