Federal Officers Pulling Out Of Portland

(Portland, OR)  --  Federal officers are pulling out of Portland, starting today.  Governor Kate Brown announced yesterday on Twitter she had been in talks with Vice President Mike Pence and other federal officials to remove the officers.  They had reached an agreement that all officers with ICE and Customs and Border Protection would be leaving Portland in phases.  In his own statement, Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf noted that Oregon State Police would take the place of federal officers to ensure the federal courthouse and other facilities would remain protected.  This all comes after federal officers have clashed with demonstrators in Downtown Portland as nightly protests have continued in the city following the death of George Floyd.
