(Portland, OR) -- Police in Washington County are warning residents about a new phone scam. The Washington County Sheriff's Office says the scammers are posing as employees with the Social Security Administration and calling up victims saying their identity has been stolen. The scammer then transfers the victim to someone claiming to be in law enforcement, who tells the victim they'll be arrested if they don't wire 20-thousand dollars to an overseas company. Police are urging anyone who receives such a call to hang up.
