Navy Veteran Speaks Before Congress About Beating From Federal Officers

(Portland, OR)  --  A Navy veteran is testifying before Congress regarding a viral video showing federal officers beating him with a baton over and over again before pepper spraying him in the face during a Portland protest.  Fifty-three-year-old Christopher David told members of Congress yesterday he had hoped to speak with federal officers before they attacked him with a baton and sprayed him in the face with chemicals.  David also expressed disappointment in the actions of the officers, as well as the federal government for falsely claiming that demonstrations had overtaken the entire city of Portland.  Despite his experience, David says the thing that gives him hope is that many people from various backgrounds are expressing outrage at the officers' response in Portland.
