(Portland, OR) -- The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit Boathouse is being renamed for a retired sergeant injured in the line of duty. The sheriff's office held a ceremony late last week to re-dedicate the boathouse in honor of Sergeant Damon Coates. Coates was shot in the face in 2003 while responding to a call from parents reporting erratic behavior by their 15-year-old son. The shooting permanently disabled Coates, causing a debilitating brain injury.
