Portland Police Respond To Woman In Crisis

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Police say officers spent nearly four hours yesterday trying to get a woman having a mental health crisis into custody.  Police say the woman was outside of a building near Southwest Broadway and Jefferson armed with a knife.  Officers are familiar with the woman because they've had several encounters with her the past few days.  They gave her water and cigarettes in an attempt to build rapport.  She was eventually taken into custody and transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
