Abandoned Dog Owner Avoids Criminal Charges

(Vancouver, WA)  --  The woman who was caught on surveillance video abandoning her dog at a Clark County Park earlier this month has signed a confession to avoid criminal charges.  The video of 63-year-old Maria Bruce leaving her dog and then driving away went viral on social media.  Bruce told authorities she couldn't keep the dog and believed she'd run out of options.  As part of the settlement, Bruce must pay fines and reimburse the county for the cost of the dog's care.  The dog remains in foster care and has adjusted well.
