(Portland, OR) -- Authorities are identifying the pilot who was killed in a crash near Mt. Hood while fighting the White River Fire. Officials say 40-year-old Thomas Duffy of Bozeman, Montana was working for a private company that was contracted to fight the fire. Duffy was flying a Type 1 K-MAX helicopter doing water drops when the crash happened. Duffy was also a search and rescue pilot for the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office in Montana. The NTSB is investigating the cause of the crash.
