(Portland, OR) -- Officials are evacuating three state prisons in Marion County due to wildfires burning through the area. The Oregon Department of Corrections evacuated about 14-hundred inmates yesterday from the Mill Creek, Santiam and Oregon State Correctional Institutions. The inmates are being temporarily transferred to the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem. Marion County is under a state of emergency as the Beachie Creek and Lionshead fires burn in Santiam Canyon.
