Nearly 500 Fires Burning Across Oregon

(Portland, OR)  --  Oregon is in a state of emergency as hundreds of wildfires continue to burn across the state.  The Oregon Office of Emergency Management says there are currently more than 480 active fires burning more than two-point-five-million acres in the state.  Governor Kate Brown invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act yesterday.  The order allows the State Fire Marshal to mobilize more resources to help battle wildfires.  Fire officials say strong winds and hot, dry conditions have helped fuel the most recent blazes.
