Rain On The Way Could Help Battle Against Wildfires

(Portland, OR)  --  Rain is expected to bring some relief to crews battling wildfires across the state of Oregon today.  Forecasters say a storm will bring moisture along the coast as well as the west and east slopes of the Cascades.  However, Chief of Fire Protection Doug Grafe says those storms may also bring lightning and winds which could exacerbate current fires and spark new ones.  Andrew Phelps with the Oregon Office of Emergency Management says the rain could also potentially bring flash flooding since burned regions have lost vegetation and the ability to absorb rainfall.
