Police Release Details In Hostage Situation Shooting Involving Deputy

(Salem, OR)  --  Oregon State Police are investigating a hostage situation that ended in gunfire Monday afternoon in East Salem.  Police say the suspect, 34-year-old Jose Lopez-Tinoco of Woodburn, was inside of a residence in the Four Corners area with hostages inside.  Negotiators were trying to talk with Lopez-Tinoco when shots were fired.  Deputies entered the building and one deputy fired several rounds.  Police say 24-year-old Diari Bustos-Bustos and an 11-year-old boy were killed, while a 43-year-old woman was hospitalized with severe injuries.  A 13-year-old boy inside the home wasn't injured.  The suspect died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
