(Boardman, OR)  --  Portland General Electric has permanently closed the only coal-fired power plant in Oregon.  The Boardman Generation Station has been in operation since 1980.  It was the largest single source of greenhouse gas emissions in the state.  A variety of sources from the BPA and other providers will fill the gap while new renewable sources come online.
