PPB Releases Details On Suspect Escape

(Portland, OR) -- New details are coming to light regarding the escape of a suspect accused of running down a Portland Police officer with a stolen truck on Christmas Eve, seriously injuring her. Police say a cleaning crew accidentally helped 24-year-old David Dahlen escape from police custody on Saturday, shortly after officers tracked him down and arrested him for attempted murder. Police say Dahlen was being held at the Justice Center when a cleaning crew opened the door to the holding cell and then closed it again, but it didn't lock. Dahlen allegedly escaped without anyone seeing him, and he remains at large. Police say they're reviewing procedures to make sure similar escapes don't happen in the future.
