Clackamas County Commissioner Shull Apologizes For Xenophobic Comments

(Portland, OR)  --  Clackamas County Commissioner Mark Shull is apologizing for making racist, Islamophobic and xenophobic comments on social media.  Shull publicly apologized yesterday while meeting with community leaders at the Muslim Educational Trust.  Shull apologized for "causing fear" to the Muslim community and asked for forgiveness.  Shull said that he takes full responsibility for the comments, but he also claimed the comments were taken out of context and that they may have been leaked by a political rival.  Local leaders have been calling for Shull to resign after a blogger compiled troubling past comments made by him online.  The Clackamas County Board unanimously approved a resolution last week censuring Shull and stating that he should step down.
