Study: Feds Used Toxic Smoke Grenades During Summer Protests

(Portland, OR)  --  A new report finds federal agents used smoke grenades that contained toxic fumes during summer clashes with protesters in Portland.  Researchers from the Chemical Weapons Research Consortium analyzed the smoke grenades and pepper balls used in more than two-dozen confrontations.  The company that supplied the smoke grenades used an ingredient classified as a likely carcinogen by the EPA.  Researchers are petitioning the incoming Biden administration and other law enforcement groups to consider using different smoke munitions.
