State Marine Board Approves New Boating Rules

(Salem, OR) -- The Oregon State Marine Board is approving new boating rules for the Willamette River. The goal is to reduce wakes between the Hawthorne Bridge and Waverly Marina. From May 1st through September 30th, boats can move through the area without slowing down. Water skiing, wake surfing and other towed devices are prohibited. Personal watercraft must run under five miles an hour unless they're going directly through the zone. Other "no wake" restrictions are in place from Waverly Marina to Willamette Falls.
