(Portland, OR) -- A man is facing charges after allegedly burglarizing a church in northwest Portland. Police say it happened early yesterday morning at St. Mary's Cathedral at 17th and Northwest Davis. Police responded to the church on reports the suspect was inside and throwing items through the windows. Responding officers found the suspect in the rectory yelling at a pastor who was trying to calm him down. The suspect allegedly tried to escape through a back door, but officers caught him and arrested him.
