Burglary Suspect Caught In Act In Salem

(Portland, OR) -- Police say an alert neighbor and a video surveillance system helped catch a burglar in the act yesterday afternoon in Salem. Marion County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call on Oak Park Drive Northeast from a neighbor who saw a suspicious person near a house. Meanwhile, the homeowner also called 9-1-1 to report seeing the suspect on their home's surveillance camera. Deputies surrounded the house and used loud speakers to tell the suspect to come out. Police say 65-year-old Richard Woods walked out of the home 15 minutes later and was arrested on burglary charges.
