(Portland, OR) -- Oregon's Secretary of State is fighting a request from the legislature to delay the redistricting process because the Census data won't be ready. The Census is late because of the pandemic. Secretary of State Shemia Fagan says delaying the redistricting process will also cause all elections in 2022 to be delayed. She says the legislature can use data from the Population Research Center at Portland State University and then refine it when the Census data comes in. The Oregon Supreme Court will decide the case.
