Nike Faces Backlash On Chinese Social Media

(Undated)  --  Beaverton-based Nike is feeling the ire on Chinese social media after the sportswear company put out a statement expressing concern over reports of forced labor in the country's Xinjiang province.  It's not clear exactly when Nike issued the statement, but it was picked up by Chinese internet users late Wednesday.  China has faced criticism for accusations of forced labor and detentions of the minority Muslim Uyghur population.  This week, the U.S., European Union, U.K. and Canada imposed sanctions on Chinese officials over alleged human rights abuses.
