Oregon Legislature Approves Redistricting maps

(Salem, OR) -- The Oregon legislature has passed two bills that complete the redistricting process. It creates new congressional and legislative boundaries. Republicans argued the majority democrats created the maps in a way that will give them an edge to stay in power. Democrats modified the boundaries for the Fifth Congressional District to give Republicans a slightly better chance, but that district is currently held by Democratic Congressman Kurt Schrader. The Fifth District also will extend into central Oregon including Redmond, Bend, and Sunriver. Governor Kate Brown has signed both bills.
