Nationwide, the CDC reports syphilis cases increased 59-percent. Marion County Health and Human Services offers testing and treatment along with bus passes and in some cases gas cards for people who can't afford transportation to a clinic. Syphilis can lead to dementia, heart disease, nerve damage and blindness.
