Federal Funds Help Build Sewer Treatment Plant

(Aumsville, OR) -- The wastewater treatment plant in Aumsville is in violation of the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality's standards for ammonia runoff. Building a new facility would double sewer rates for the city's 42-hundred residents. The U.S. Department of Agriculture will give the city a six-million-dollar grant and a nine-million-dollar loan to cover half of the cost. The project will bring the city into compliance with its national wastewater permit.
