(Portland, OR) -- Oregonians 65 and older can now get an additional dose of the 2023-2024 updated COVID vaccine. Last week, the CDC opened eligibility to older adults, who are most at risk for serious illness from the virus. Oregon health officials say vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, but a second dose restores that protection for older adults. They urge you to get the second shot if it's been at least four months since receiving the first dose of the 2023-2024 vaccine.
