(Portland, OR) -- The U.S. Forest Service is warning about increased fire danger across the Pacific Northwest, because of east winds. In 2020, it was strong east winds that caused the Labor Day Fires. The winds this weekend are not expected to be that strong. There could be some higher gusts. The hot weather has caused conditions to become extremely dry and if a fire starts the winds could cause fires to spread. Campfire bans are in place in federal forests.
