(Portland, OR) -- Multnomah County residents whose homes were foreclosed between October 2017 and June 2025 may be eligible for part of a 3.5-million-dollar class action settlement. The case challenged an Oregon law that let counties keep surplus money from foreclosure sales, a practice the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional in 2023. Plaintiffs argued former homeowners never received excess funds from property sales, sometimes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
