>>Boil Order Issue In West Linn

(West Linn, OR)  --  Dozens of households in West Linn are under orders to boil their tap water after a water main failed.  The breach to the Failing Street main happened yesterday afternoon, and officials say it's large enough to necessitate water being shut off.  Test results are being awaited to determine whether the water supply was contaminated by E. coli or fecal coliform bacteria as a result of the break.  Officials say the boil order is expected to remain in place through this morning.

>>Police Say No One Injured After Shots Fired At Home

(McMinnville, OR)  --  Police say no one was injured when gunshots were fired at a home in McMinnville.  Authorities say a home on Southwest Shirley Avenue was hit by a hail of bullets from a small-caliber gun early yesterday morning.  Seven people, including two children, were sleeping in the home at the time.  No arrests have been made.    

>>WA Extending Unemployment Benefits Amid Rising Jobless Rate

(Undated)  --  The Washington Employment Security Department is extending unemployment benefits amid rising jobless rates.  Officials say they're extending federally-funded emergency unemployment benefits for nine weeks starting Sunday.  The state's three-month jobless rate average has risen to seven-percent.  Officials say October's federal government shutdown is partially responsible for the rise.

>>Seahawks Stifle Saints, 34-7

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Seahawks are sporting the NFL's best record at 11-and-1 after blowing out the New Orleans Saints, 34-7.  Russell Wilson passed for 310 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Seahawks, which became the first team this season to clinch a playoff spot.  The Seattle defense held the Saints to 188 total yards and 12 first downs.  The Seahawks will visit NFC West rival San Francisco this Sunday.

>>Porter Named MLS Coach Of The Year

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Timbers head coach Caleb Porter is Major League Soccer's Coach of the Year.  The league made the announcement yesterday, following a vote by media, MLS players, and MLS club management.  Porter just completed his first MLS season as a head coach, leading the Timbers to a 14-5-15 regular-season record and the Western Conference title.  New York's Mike Petke, Real Salt Lake's Jason Kreis, and Colorado's Oscar Pareja [[ pah-RAY-hah ]] were finalists for the Coach-of-the-Year award.
