Multnomah County Divided Over Funding For Moda Center Renovation

(Portland, OR) - Multnomah County commissioners are divided over a proposed public funding package for a renovation of the Moda Center. Commissioners are set to vote Thursday on a plan that could dedicate up to 101.6-million dollars toward the project, which is part of a larger nearly 600-million dollar public investment package. Two commissioners are proposing changes that would reduce the county's contribution to 65-million dollars, while others are raising concerns about funding cuts and public services. The vote comes as county leaders negotiate with the Trail Blazers and the city of Portland over the arena renovation plan.
