(Portland, OR) -- The City of Portland is sending out contractors on Recycling Day to check recycling bins for the wrong items. The city wants to reduce garbage in the recycling stream. A pilot program will start next month where contractors will look inside of recycling bins on collection day and then leave a note for residents, if they're putting the wrong items in the bin. That can include plastic bags, batteries, electronics, hoses, cords or wires.
