Oregon Wildfires Set New Record
(Salem, OR) -- Oregon is experiencing a record-setting wildfire season. The fires have burned nearly two-million acres, which surpasses the record set in 2024. The historic Flag Point Lookout was destroyed by the Grasshopper Fire. It was built in 1924 and re-built in 1973. It continued to be staffed. Last week, firefighters cleared vegetation around it and wrapped the structure, but the fire made it un-safe to remain on the lookout was destroyed. The Grasshopper Fire has burned 26-thousand acres.
