(Salem, OR) -- Oregon is joining several states in a lawsuit against the federal government over sharing of information about low-income families. The Administration for Children and Families issued a notice that it can collect personal information about families in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families programs and share it with other agencies, and potentially private organizations. It could contain immigration information that would go to the Department of Homeland Security. The lawsuit argues that the policy violates the Administrative Procedure Act and the Spending Clause of the Constitution.
