Healthcare Fraud Guilty Plea
(Portland, OR) -- Sentencing is scheduled early next year for the owner of a sleep study business in southern Oregon, who pleaded guilty to healthcare fraud. Federal prosecutors say 67-year-old Mehdrad Gerami owned Coastal Diagnostic Testing Group, which operated in Coos Bay, Brookings, Reedsport, Florence and Roseburg. They would conduct more expensive in-office sleep studies, when less expensive at-home tests should have been conducted. They also falsely billed customers who didn't take part in the tests. The losses are estimated at two-point-one-million-dollars. Gerami will be sentenced in January.
