Portland Enhanced Safety Initiative Fails To Get Enough Signatures
(Portland, OR) -- Portland City Elections says the Portland Enhanced Community Safety Initiative failed to collect enough signatures to get the measure on the November ballot. They were 63-hundred signatures short. The primary reason was too many signatures being from people living outside of Portland. Then, in many cases the same person signed two or three times. Eighty-four-hundred signatures were discounted through state-mandated pre-processing. More than half of those signatures were invalid because petitioners struck them out before submission.
